Love and Holy Relationships
Our lives unfold through relationships. And holy relationships, those sacred unions blessed by God, are always founded on love. For it is love which joins and holds people together. Always remember that God is love. And as a child of God, made in his image, love is the very essence of who you are. Nevertheless, love is a mystery, for it cannot be fully defined. It cannot be entirely explained or understood. You know intuitively that love, though it may be predicted, cannot be controlled or manipulated. You know instinctively that love might be suppressed, but never extinguished.
Though it bends, love does not break. And in your heart, you know that love is nurtured through forgiveness. Having no true opposite, love unveils the illusion of polarities. Yet, there is a paradox; for love is both the lamb and the lion; it is the rose but also the thorn. Love is both the storm and the calm; the bitter and the sweet. Love is exquisitely free, yet it flourishes in bonds of devotion. Love never punishes; yet it’s the foundation of all justice. Love is a witness for truth; yet it doesn’t judge. By never condemning, love remains innocent. Love conquers by surrendering, and it rules by lifting up.
Holy relationships belong to God, to be empowered or dissolved according to his will. This ensures that someone’s life cannot truly be owned by another. By God’s design, freedom, equality, kindness, and respect are the ultimate hallmarks of our interactions with others. Each holy relationship honors the universal bond shared by all living things. Each loving union honors the kinship between creation and Creator. By divine will, a relationship built on innocence and purity is our greatest human expression. When love is nurtured within a sacred sanctuary, there’s reason to hope for a better world. And when anointed by God, a holy relationship brings heaven to earth. Understand that as your love grows, your faith grows as well. So in the end, there is but one rule to follow: Simply be the love that you are. Then with you, God shall be pleased!
